Women's Voices. Women Vote. WE MADE THE DIFFERENCE!
EXIT POLLS ACROSS THE COUNTRY REVEAL AN OVERWHELMING MARRIAGE GAP! 70 PERCENT OF UNMARRIED WOMEN SUPPORTED OBAMA
WE MADE THE DIFFERENCE!
Unmarried women with children voted 74 to 25 in favor of Obama. Unmarried women without children also voted 69 to 31 in favor of Obama (according to CNN exit poll this morning). While unmarried women gave Obama a margin of victory of more than 12 million votes, married women supported McCain by a narrow margin.
Thanks to you we have shown that we are a decisive political force, voting in larger numbers than ever before. Unmarried women's margin for Obama is at least 5 million votes more than John Kerry's margin over Bush four years ago.
UNMARRIED WOMEN ARE NOW THE PROGRESSIVE MAJORITY, WE PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN MANY PROGRESSIVE VICTORIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY!
Not only were unmarried women huge in terms of the presidential margin, they provided an even greater margin for Democratic House candidates this year than they did in the wave election of 2006.
All of our efforts paid off, but this is just the beginning. The opportunities for unmarried women are boundless and we now have much more to accomplish.
Thank you for all of your efforts and support, encouraging women on their own to make their voices heard. Together we have strengthened our democracy!
